We’ll take you on a magical tour of Chiang Mai. This ancient city never sleeps as we ride through small back roads and alleyways to see how people really live. The fun starts just after sunset, as we cruise through local parks, temples with golden spires illuminated under the moon, and famous night markets. You will experience an immersion into Thai life. Chat with monks at a temple and ask them why they wear orange robes or what time they wake up to start their prayers. Shop at a night market shoulder to shoulder with those buying ingredients for dinner. Snack on what is made locally. Spicy or sweet, it is all uniquely Thai.
When the sunsets Chiang Mai doesn’t stop, but it does slow down and the ancient temples with their golden spires illuminated take on a magical feel at night. See the old town from a different perspective as you cycle through quiet backroads, small lanes, and alleyways as the temperatures cool down.
Meet at the SpiceRoads Chiang Mai office at 6 pm where we are fitted for bikes, check our lights and then we start our discovery of Chiang Mai city after the peak rush hour traffic has died down. Chiang Mai is bright enough at night that we can photograph the beautifully lit temples and statues as we learn about the history and geography of this ancient city. We ride down to the river and take a walk through the evening fresh market, stocked with the most amazing array of fruits and vegetable – delicious, exotic, and healthy snacks are everywhere!
